Michelle & Kevin GRAY -
Michelle and Kevin, both keen gardeners and dedicated volunteers with Adlington in Bloom for the last three years, are jointly our well-
Michelle and Kevin were given the opportunity to create a natural garden at Idle Bridge last year, which has now matured. They also maintain the displays at Skew Bridge.
The judges from North West in Bloom competition were impressed by the new garden at Idle Bridge. This, together with other colourful and inspiring displays, led to Adlington and District in Bloom being awarded a silver medal once again in 2018.
Michelle and Kevin have told us that due to last year’s hot summer many plants at Skew Bridge were lost. Over the next 12 months they will be restructuring and replanting this garden.
All this voluntary effort to enhance our local environment is made possible due to local business sponsorship, donations and additional fund raising by Adlington in Bloom.
Adlington in Bloom welcomes new volunteers to help with their many projects. Find out more at their website: adlingtonanddistrictinbloom.org.uk or contact the Chair, Jeanette Lowe on 01257 481415.

Tina Booth -
Tina Booth, Heath Charnock Parishioner of 2017
We are delighted to announce that the first winner of Heath Charnock Parish Council’s Parishioner of the Year Award in 2017 is Tina Booth. The annual Award is to recognise the people making a difference to their local area, who have pride, and who go the extra mile for their community and neighbourhood on a voluntary basis.
Tina is passionate about protecting our local environment and maintaining the diversity of the wildlife and vegetation throughout the Parish, but especially along the canal, in hedgerows and shrubberies, and in public open spaces.
During the last 12 months Tina has regularly picked up litter and cans to keep the Parish clean and tidy. She has campaigned on a personal level to improve the Parish on many fronts: for example to improve the quality of roads and footpaths, and to protect essential local services, including securing the public telephone on Chorley Road for ‘social need’ reasons being close to housing for older people. Well done Tina and thank you for your enthusiasm.
Tina was presented with her award by Councillor Graham Ashworth, Chairman of Heath Charnock Parish Council.
